Who I Am

I've spent more than 25 years in public service and higher education leadership — and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that the technical skills get you in the door, but it's the human skills that determine whether you actually lead.

I consider myself a servant leader and a pragmatist — which may sound like a contradiction until you've lived it. I believe deeply in the purpose behind the work, and I believe in getting there efficiently, without wasting anyone's time or energy. That balance isn't automatic. It takes emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and a willingness to keep growing in the areas that don't come naturally.

I'll be honest: I'm a problem-solver at heart. My instinct is to jump straight to questions, data, and solutions. But 25 years of leading in complex, mission-driven organizations taught me that listening — really listening, until someone feels heard — is often the more important skill. As an ambivert who has never loved small talk or office politics, I've had to intentionally build that muscle. I still work on it every day.

My top strengths — Restorative, Relator, Responsibility, Individualization, and Strategic — show up in how I coach: I care about helping you explore opportunities, build real relationships, follow through, understand people as individuals, and think several steps ahead.

I'm not here to hand you a leadership formula. I'm here to help you build the practical, human skills that make you effective and someone people genuinely want to follow — especially if you're doing mission-driven work in public service or the nonprofit world, where the stakes are real and the resources are thin.

On a final note, these realities of self don’t just apply to the workplace. They are transferable and matter in real, everyday life too, which is why I offer both professional and life coaching.
